Semper Vera Idilana workshop

Semper Vera Idilana workshop

The “Idilana artisans workshop Semper Vera” is at the heart of a Franco-Malagasy project to support and grow opportunities for the villages of Madagascar. It offers a multipurpose space with a craft and sewing workshop as well as a community centre, becoming a central place for the village's residents. The façade is coated with red earth mixed with cement to blend in with the surrounding houses. The large wooden doors and solid earth blocks allow good ventilation and optimal thermal comfort. The repetitive plan is flexible and modular, letting the space adapt to different uses. The white-painted walls contrast with the vibrant red façade. The roof left open creates a beautiful play of light as the sun passes through the openings. This building becomes an ideal place for villagers to gather, work and celebrate together. Thank you to them for their trust and for giving us the chance to photograph this exceptional project.
